How Do We Build A Better Community?
Some of the most effective community building in the East Valley is being done by people you may not be familiar with. Yet.
The East Valley Police Activity League Supporters (PALS) has been working with the North Hollywood Division of the LAPD for more than forty years. PALS is an all-volunteer 501c3 that raises funds and provides financial support for the men and women of the LAPD.
It often comes as a surprise to the average Angeleno how difficult it is for the city to pay for some essential equipment, training and special events for the LAPD. PALS attempts to bridge that gap.
The LAPD Cadet and Jeopardy Youth Programs work with children to promote trust and understanding between young people and the police. Both programs focus on character development, personal accountability and a strong commitment to good citizenship.
PALS members have the opportunity to get to know the LAPD leadership, to meet with other concerned community members and to promote their businesses as partners in public safety.
When you donate to PALS, the connection between kids and the LAPD officers in our division grows stronger through the Jeopardy and Cadet Youth programs. Officers have access to enhanced training, better equipping them for complex and complicated situations. The station receives essential supplies and equipment not funded by the City of Los Angeles. At public quarterly meetings, held at various locations within the division, Officers of the Quarter are recognized and we feature guest speakers who are experts on public safety topics. PALS is also able to host our Community Partnership Luncheon, our annual Golf Tournament and other events throughout the year and honor and recognize our officers for their hard work.
Why join PALS? PALS helps to serve as a conduit between the public and the LAPD. When you participate, you help support and strengthen community policing in Los Angeles. Join PALS and help us build a better community.
